Introducing children to the wonders of nature
Andrea loves writing fun and engaging nature-themed children’s picture books and middle grade books that introduce children and parents to the wonders of nature.
Her goal is to get her books published by outstanding publishers with great reach so she can get her books out to children around the world. Andrea has completed a middle grade STEM nonfiction manuscript as well as several fiction picturebooks ready to publish and she is also available for WFH (write-for-hire) assignments.
She writes:
- children’s picture books (fiction and non-fiction)
- middle grade books (fiction and non-fiction) Andrea has been working on an upper middle grade novel for ten years.
- screenplays (fantasy, science fiction, family adventure, young adult)
- lyrics & poetry
- environmental news and magazine articles
Right now, she is seeking representation for the first time for debut screenplay and picture book projects. She authored The Wish Trees: How Planting Trees Can Help Make the World a Better Place as an educational and humanitarian fundraising tool. 100% of profits go directly to children’s climate education projects. This children’s tree planting book was a project she developed in advance of an assignment to plant trees with children in Africa. After putting it on Amazon to raise money for children’s environmental education projects, this darling children’s tree planting book ended-up being a #1 Amazon Kindle Children’s Forest & Tree Book!
Andrea enjoyed writing so much that now she would like to find an outstanding agent and publisher for her picture book, early reader and middle grade manuscripts. She is keen to work with agents and publishers who understand how much children need fun and hopeful nature and environmentally themed books to help them be better prepared for their ever-changing world.
Andrea is an environmental journalist, a children’s environmental education advocate and United Nations Climate Observer. She says millions of children are already impacted by climate change. She travels lots to UN meetings and says she has met so many inspiring people working on urgent climate solutions. She thinks providing children with formal and informal, accessible and transformational environmental education opportunities can help, that’s why she is so dedicated to writing inspiring books for kids all over the world.
Based in Greater Vancouver Canada, Andrea is both a Canadian and Irish citizen.
