Introducing children to the wonders of nature
Right now, she is seeking representation for the first time. She self-published The Wish Trees: How Planting Trees Can Help Make the World a Better Place as part of her children’s tree planting program. (She needed the books fast as she was leaving for a children’s tree planting project in Africa.)
Andrea enjoyed writing so much that now she would like to find an outstanding agent and publisher for her picture book, early reader and middle grade manuscripts. She is keen to work with agents and publishers who understand how much children need fun and hopeful nature and environmentally themed books to help them be better prepared for their ever-changing world.
Andrea is an environmental journalist, a children’s environmental education advocate and United Nations Climate Observer. She says millions of children are already impacted by climate change. She travels lots to UN meetings and says she has met so many inspiring people working on urgent climate solutions. She thinks providing children with formal and informal, accessible and transformational environmental education opportunities can help, that’s why she is so dedicated to writing inspiring books for kids all over the world.
Based in Greater Vancouver Canada, Andrea is both a Canadian and Irish citizen.
Latest children’s book project: These days Andrea is writing and illustrating a children’s picture book with a fun and hopeful environmental education theme about a clueless monster stealing trees and the girl who saves them all.

Inspiring and uplifting, The Wish Trees is rooted in the idea that every child can help make the world a better place. This whimsical children’s book introduces young readers to the fun of tree planting as they meet kids around the globe planting Wish Trees and making wishes.
Kids will discover the wonder of trees and enjoy searching for different animals and tree names with each new page. Thoughtful, empowering and beautifully written by journalist and children’s environmental education advocate Andrea Koehle Jones, The Wish Trees features illustrations by New York Times best-selling illustrator Alicia Padrón. The Wish Trees: How Planting Trees Can Help Make the World a Better Place is inspiring little tree planters and wishers everywhere.
The second edition of The Wish Trees includes a bonus: “How to Plant a Wish Tree.”
The book is inspired by “A Tree for Every Child” children’s tree planting projects created by Andrea and she often donates the book to children as part of her work as a children’s environmental advocate. The book was originally an environmental education tool for her work but it grew in popularity and tree quotes from the book started going viral like:
