Andrea Koehle Jones is an award-winning environmental education advocate, climate journalist, children’s book author, United Nations Climate Observer, and the founder of Canada’s ChariTree Foundation. She has worked across print, online, and television media, including CBC and CBC Kids, and has contributed to landmark environmental campaigns such as the effort to save the Great Bear Rainforest.

“I want to give children opportunities to fall in love with nature because you protect what you love.”Andrea Koehle Jones

Andrea also serves as a mentor with Nature Canada’s Women for Nature initiative and as an advisor to the UNICEF Leading Minds Fellowship on Climate Education (LMCEF), a multi-year initiative aimed at accelerating systemic change in climate education. The program seeks to reframe climate education as both a child’s right and a lever for systemic transformation, while empowering young leaders, strengthening the broader ecosystem through youth-led research and resources, and advancing joint advocacy in global forums such as the Climate COPs.

She recently signed a publishing deal for her upcoming children’s tree planting book, set to be released in Spring 2026.

Andrea believes stories can be powerful tools for change—and her goal is to inspire young readers to care for the planet by helping them fall in love with it.
