“Where wishes take root and grow into real change.”
A heartfelt thank you to Principal Kelly Pevie at Jakeman All Grade for sharing photos from last week’s incredible tree planting event that kicked off with a reading of The Wish Trees!
Nestled in the heart of Gros Morne National Park, Jakeman All Grade is more than a school — it’s a vibrant K–12 hub of learning and community in Trout River, Newfoundland. Surrounded by one of Canada’s most breathtaking landscapes, students at Jakeman All Grade School grow up immersed in nature, with hands-on environmental education that inspires real-world action.
Parks Canada staff joined in to help with the tree planting project also supported by The ChariTree Foundation’s outdoor education program. The ChariTree Foundation is putting children’s rights at the forefront of climate action to improve their education, health and future. This United Nations Climate Observer Organization is empowering young people through hands-on learning with outdoor classrooms and advocacy.
“I’m so impressed by the students, staff, and Parks Canada for working together to make a difference,” said The Wish Trees author Andrea Koehle Jones. “It’s truly heartwarming to see The Wish Trees come to life in such a special place.”
